Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu launches" Pure Little Heart Foundation"

Rainbow Hospitals Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute Launches Pure Little Hearts Foundation for the Economically-Challenged Children

Hyderabad, Telangana, 5th March, 2022: Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute takes a noble initiative, for the economically-challenged children with congenital heart diseases, by launching the Pure Little Hearts Foundation (PLHF) for Children’s Cardiac Care.

The Pure Little Heart Foundation was launched by Tollywood Superstar Mr. Mahesh Babu at Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute.

Mr Mahesh Babu has been a strong supporter of causes that save sick children, especially children with heart problems. Speaking at the event, the Superstar committed to support children at RCHI through the Mahesh Babu Foundation.

In India, congenital heart diseases account for 10 out of every 1000 births, so more than 200,000 children are born every year with congenital heart disease. Approximately one-fifth of these infants are likely to have a serious birth defect, requiring intervention during the first year.

Majority of the families with such kids are unable to afford quality children’s cardiac care leading to significant morbidity and mortality. “Cardiac procedures in children is primarily a one-time effort, it helps the child lead a productive life and helps the country prosper. But the young parents struggle to arrange funds for the treatment. As doctors, we feel that these children could easily be cured from this problem with a little financial help. Pure Little Hearts Foundation is the result of a solution finding exercise to this problem.” said Dr Chinnaswamy Reddy, Chairman of the Pure Little Hearts Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Nageswara Rao Koneti, Chief Cardiologist, Director – Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute, said “Congenital heart disease is the most common congenital defect in the society affecting children. At RCHI we have performed nearly 900 cardiac surgeries and over 850 cardiac procedures in the last 2 years, many of them were performed on children less than 1-year-old and critically ill. Our institute manages all spectrum of congenital heart defects. The outcomes are excellent. As a clinician, I often felt a need that if there is a foundation to assist, we will be able to support and treat more infants and children.”

“Time is of the essence in the treatment of the children with cardiac defects. Timely diagnosis, procedure planning, intervention and follow up are required to ensure that the child is cured of this disease for the rest of his life. The treatment for such defects involves the efforts of skilled clinicians, paramedics, high-end equipment and medicines. Quality care needs adequate funding. The mission of the foundation is to make quality treatment accessible to every child in need, even those who cannot afford life-changing medical intervention,” said Dr Chinnaswamy Reddy. “We, at Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute, honour the life of every child and hence, our foundation focuses on establishing, maintaining and granting financial aid or other assistance for giving cardiovascular relief to the sick children of the economical-sensitive class. We will also continuously improve and innovate our treatment methods to make the cardiac interventions more affordable for the children,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramesh Kancharla, Chairman and Managing Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital said, “It has been my passion to provide cardiac treatment for children because it is like a one-time fix. These children, once treated, are like any normal person and contribute positively to the growth of the country. RCHI was launched in 2019 as one of the largest stand-alone pediatric cardiac hospitals in India with 100 beds to provide an opportunity for many children to lead a normal life. I am very encouraged by the results of our excellent team of doctors, nurses and paramedics in changing the lives of so many children. I am personally committed to supporting the treatment of 50 such children every year through this foundation.”

“We are very thankful to Superstar Mahesh Babu for his presence here to launch the Pure Little Hearts Foundation. He has been associated with Rainbow for nearly two decades and he is aware of our capabilities in treating sick children,” added Dr Ramesh.

Superstar Mahesh Babu has been associated with Rainbow for nearly two decades. “I am very excited to launch the Pure Little Hearts Foundation. Children have always been close to my heart, I am happy to support children who need cardiac care at RCHI through the Mahesh Babu Foundation. Tiny hearts deserve the greatest care” said Mr. Mahesh Babu.
